Cruising ‘Hurtigruten’ (formerly called The Norwegian Coastal Voyage) is well-known as 'The World's Most Beautiful Voyage' and deservedly so. Many people choose to do the Voyage as a cruise of up to 11 days, departing from Bergen. One ship departs every day and travels all the way up the coast of Norway and around the North Cape to Kirkenes close to the Russian border, before returning southwards again to Bergen. There are many stops at harbours large and small on the way, and the scenery throughout is stunning. Full details of cruises on Hurtigruten can be found at www.hurtigruten.com . Several fixed packages are on offer there and we can tell you more about these and book them at the same price. We are also able to combine a Hurtigruten cruise with any travel arrangements and other accommodation you wish, and the price for this often works out lower than a package price.. Port to Port Journeys What is less well-known is that you can also travel from any port of call to any other on the Coastal Voyage ships and take a car with you if you wish. This is normally booked with passage and a cabin only, leaving you free to buy your food in the cafeteria and restaurant on board as you go. Availability of cabins for these 'port to port' journeys is usually quite limited, and it may not be possible at all in busy periods such as mid-May to the end of July. However, some cabins are allocated on all journeys, and any not booked for cruises are released for port to port trips about a month before departure. So, it is best to book early, or book late for this period. August to mid-May is usually easier. The starting point in planning any trip involving a port to port journey is for us to check availability of cabins for you. The rest of the trip can then be planned around it. Brochures We can supply brochures about Hurtigruten (Norwegian Coastal Voyage) by post on request.
